Strategic Goals For the GaDOE and the State Board of Education
Here are the GaDOE’s six (6) Strategic Goals that lead our work. Since 2003 we have worked to transform our state education system into an accountability system focused on helping each and every child. Our vision is to lead the nation in improving student achievement and increasing workforce readiness, which is of course, is Goal 3. We’re well on our way to doing that and closing the academic achievement gap.

Georgia’s End-of-Pathway Assessment Process
Was initiated in response to Perkins IV Legislation Core Indicator 2S1: Technical Skill Attainment Mandates states to ascertain level of technical skill attainment using industry validated standards Use data from such measurements to demonstrate achievement, foster program improvement and assist with accountability measures

Perkins IV Legislation
Measures must be “valid and reliable and include at a minimum challenging academic standards and attainment of skill proficiencies, including achievement on technical assessments that are aligned with industry recognized standards.” [b.2.A] Section 113: Accountability (Secondary Indicators-Core Indicator 2S1)

The Identification Process
Convened Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) consisting of state program specialists and advisory councils Researched and evaluated existing national assessments Identified over 60 national credentialing exams for pathway completers

CTAE Pathway Completers
Pathway completers for Assessment Purposes: Students who have successfully completed the three designated courses in the pathway including. . . Students who are actually enrolled in the last designated course in the pathway can also be tested

Concentration on National Credentialing Exams
National credentialing opportunities provides students with: A professional credential highly valued by industry A portable credential highlighting skills, knowledge, expertise A competitive edge for both specialized and entry level job seekers

FY2010 Testing Activities 630 Students from Five Career Pathway Areas
23 Systems Participating in 34 High Schools Around the State Statewide Spring Testing Window March 1 – May 31, 2010 630 Students from Five Career Pathway Areas "We will lead the nation in improving student achievement."

FY2011 Testing Activities Beginning in FY2011, each local system should plan to assess ALL Pathway Completers Testing activities apply to all implemented pathways with an identified assessment

We Need Your Assistance: Proctors
Identifying proctors Exam proctors can be any professional staff member: testing coordinator CTAE administrator, supervisor, or instructor media specialist, administrative assistant, etc.
