What is Marking Scheme? A marking scheme is a set criteria used in assessing students’ academic performance, that is assessed through assessment tools like oral presentations, objective tests, subjective question papers.
4
Why Marking Scheme? To facilitate the teachers
To avoid cultural and ideological biases of individuals To allow students in giving response to the questions that may vary in depth and length To provide proper appreciation to the answer, given in response of the question asked To permit students’ critical thinking on the statement given in the question To unbound the boundaries for the response To promote cognitive skill (awareness, perception, reasoning, judgment) To eliminate the impression marking
5
Time to make commitment
Lets save students from the BRUNT of teachers’ perceptional clashes, their individual biases, and personal attitudes.
6
What test types do we use to assess the students?
Oral Presentation Objective Tests MCQs Fill in the Blanks (FIBs) True/False Matching Subjective Tests
7
What do you want to asses during the oral presentation?
Quality and Validity of concept Logical framework, argument and sequencing of concept Presentation of concept (Power point or other tools) Content Sentence structure, Clarity of sentence Correct use of parts of speech Grammar Intonation or modulation Audibility Less fillers Articulation Selection of words and phrases Words placement Diction Eye contact Gestures (standing posture, body movement) Facial Expressions Body language Just for adding to your knowledge: KINESICS (k-nesiks) is the study of nonlinguistic bodily movements such as gestures, facial expressions , as a systematic mode of communication.
