Assessment Purpose To demonstrate your competence after the learning
Meet organisational requirements for your role Your assessments will be based on workplace activities and may be a cluster of units

Recognition Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of Current Competency What do you already know? You may already have some skills in recruiting. Perhaps you have completed similar activities in previous work or learned them through another training course. If you can demonstrate to your assessor that you are competent in a particular skill, you will not need to repeat the training. This is called Skills Recognition and your prior learning is recognised when you can successfully demonstrate that you are competent in a particular skill. If you have any previous qualifications from an accredited course, show these to your assessor as proof of your skills. This means that you don’t have to be re-assessed
7
Assessment Pathways assessment through training assessment only
Combination of two In a competency-based system, a participant can be assessed through three pathways: assessment through training assessment only Combination of the two Assessment through training This is where the participant needs to learn the skills and knowledge first, and the assessment is conducted: during the course of training at different intervals (formative assessment) during, and on completion of training either on- or off-the-job (summative assessment). Assessment only This is where skills and knowledge have already been gained, and the participant is ready to be assessed against the relevant criteria/benchmarks without needing to go through a training program. This ‘assessment only’ pathway is called many different things: Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) Skills recognition Recognition. Each pathway will need assessment tools to capture evidence to determine the competence of the participant. In previous workshops we have read and analysed the units of competency, the assessment guidelines and the qualification and packaging rules. This documents lay the foundations for the development of our assessment tools. We will now look at how we use the information we collected to start developing a compliant practical tool.
