50. Calculating Blood Alcohol Content If a person is out drinking and decides to go home there is a calculation to estimate one’s content (BAC).
The easiest way to calculate BAC is to figure .02 percent alcohol per 12 ounces of beer, four ounces of wine and one and a half ounces of hard liquor. A person’s liver can on average process .02 ounces of alcohol per hour.
Take the number of ounces drank of each type of alcohol and time that by .02. Then take the number of hours over which the alcohol was consumed and multiply that number by .02.
Finally subtract the second number by the first and the BAC should roughly be figured.
This is not a totally accurate estimate because of different people's size and tolerance, but gives drinkers an idea of where they stand.

It is not my intent to "put down" the person who chooses to drink, rather to create a site to help promote awareness and education for the PREVENTION of drinking and driving.
