This slide-deck shows ‘HOW to Do’ a PowerPoint slide-show which includes words, pictures, sound and videos. Stepping through the slide-show is also shown (both manually and automatically) in addition, hyperlinking (jumping to a set slide) together with showing HOW to display it on PCs that do not have PowerPoint! 4 Plan and Prepare Preparation is Key for any PowerPoint show.
There are five basic steps that should be completed before the PowerPoint application is even started: Think of a Title (this will help us stay focused) Collect any Pictures you will need (Google can help here) Collect any Videos you will need (Google can help here too) On paper jot down what you want to say (Just a sentence for each section) Finally, put all the photos etc in a Folder ready for use (& remember where you put it!) That’s it! All done for this section! Now press the Down-Arrow Key

6 Start a New Show Now we start with the PowerPoint application software. There are just four steps here. Locate PowerPoint application (from the Start or Tile screen type ‘PowerPoint’) Open and Start PowerPoint (Click on the PowerPoint application) Clear the default screen to obtain a blank (Delete boxes to get a blank page) Save the Blank PowerPoint in the Folder (Just do a Save-as) Press the Down-Arrow on the keyboard to visit the next screen Now press the Down-Arrow Key

7 Start a New Show 1. Locate PowerPoint application
From the Start or Tile screen just type ‘PowerPoint’ This will bring up the right-hand side-bar. Now press the Down-Arrow Key

8 Start a New Show 2. Open and Start PowerPoint
Now just click on ‘PowerPoint’ Now press the Down-Arrow Key

9 Start a New Show Clear the default screen to obtain a blank
Here just select and Delete the boxes to get a blank page Now press the Down-Arrow Key

10 Start a New Show 4. Save the Blank PowerPoint in the Folder (Just do a Save-as) Now Save-As your blank presentation in to the Folder with your Pictures It is recommended to put the Folder of you work on your Desktop, you can always move it later. Now press the Down-Arrow Key That’s it. All done for this section too!

Select the Text Box to add words (from the ribbon) Select Insert to add Pictures (from the ribbon again) Save the PowerPoint in the Folder (Just click Save on the ribbon) Press the Down-Arrow on the keyboard to visit the next screen Now press the Down-Arrow Key

13 Add Words and Pictures Select the Text Box to add words
From the Home screen click on the text box, then click on the blank screen and type the Title of your presentation/show. Now press the Down-Arrow Key

14 Add Words and Pictures 2. Select Insert to add Pictures
From the Home screen click on INSERT, then click on Pictures and locate your pictures from your Presentation Folder on the desktop. Select a picture and press Insert. Now press the Down-Arrow Key

15 Add Words and Pictures 3. Save the PowerPoint in the Folder
Click on the floppy icon to SAVE Congratulations! That’s it for this section Now press the Down-Arrow Key

17 Add Video and/or Sound There are just three steps to insert a video.
Select the INSERT tab (from the ribbon) Select Video to add videos (from the ribbon again) Save the PowerPoint in the Folder (Just click Save on the ribbon) Press the Down-Arrow on the keyboard to visit the next screen Now press the Down-Arrow Key

18 Add Video and/or Sound 1. Select the INSERT tab
From the Ribbon menu click on the INSERT tab Now press the Down-Arrow Key

19 Add Video and/or Sound 2. Now click on Video
and select ‘Video on my PC’ and navigate to the video you want to insert from your Presentation Folder on the desktop and Click Insert Now press the Down-Arrow Key

20 Add Video and/or Sound 3. Save the PowerPoint in the Folder
Click on the floppy icon to SAVE Congratulations That’s it for this section too! Now press the Down-Arrow Key

22 Add Show Timing There are just three steps to insert automatic timing to your Presentation. Select the TRANSITIONS tab (from the ribbon) In the Advance Slide tick the ‘After’ box (from the ribbon again) Save the PowerPoint in the Folder (Just click Save on the ribbon) Press the Down-Arrow on the keyboard to visit the next screen Now press the Down-Arrow Key

23 Add Show Timing 1. Select the TRANSITIONS tab Down-Arrow Key
Now press the Down-Arrow Key

24 Add Show Timing 2. In the Advance Slide tick the ‘After’ box
Now just enter the number of seconds you want the slide to display for. (in this case say 6) Remember, as each slide is different, you should do this for each slide. Now press the Down-Arrow Key

25 Add Show Timing 3. Save the PowerPoint in the Folder
Click on the floppy icon to SAVE Congratulations That’s it for this section! Now press the Down-Arrow Key

27 Save and Save-As There are four steps to saving your Presentation so that other PCs can view it, even if they don’t have PowerPoint! Select the FILE tab (from the ribbon) In the left-hand menu click on ‘Save As’ Select your Folder again (on the Desktop) The change the ‘Save as’ type to ‘PowerPoint Show’ Press the Down-Arrow on the keyboard to visit the next screen Now press the Down-Arrow Key

28 Save and Save-As 1. Select the FILE tab Now press the Down-Arrow Key

29 Save and Save-As 2. In the left-hand menu click on ‘Save As’
Now press the Down-Arrow Key

30 Save and Save-As 2. Select your Folder Click on ‘Computer’
Then select ‘Desktop’ Then select your Folder and Now press the Down-Arrow Key

31 Save and Save-As 2. Select your Folder and . . . . .
Then select, in the pull-down, ‘Save as type’ And select ‘PowerPoint Show’ Well done. That’s it! PowerPoint Show Now press the Down-Arrow Key PowerPoint Show

33 Watch the Show That’s all there is to it.
There are three steps left now. The final step is to view the Presentation. Close PowerPoint down (from the ribbon) Locate your Folder and the files in it Select your presentation file by double clicking on it That’s all there is to it.
