1 REWARD AND RECOGNITION

2 AIMS OF THIS WORKSHOP SU Awards HEAR

3 SU Awards Internal Union awards programme
Bronze, Silver and Gold accumulative system 10hrs, 50hrs & 100hrs The UCSU Awards programme acknowledges: Careers affiliated volunteering such as training, work experience, paid work, placements and internships Community activities such as community projects, charity fundraising, sport photography roles, etc. Union Led activities- such as Sports team therapists, Student Voices, Union Officers and Club/Society Committee roles. Logging evidence is a very simple process as you just create a profile, choose the area of activity and the type of activity. Input your role, project and dates of taking part. Each activity has a set of employability skills attributed to them which you then have added to your evidence log and skills transcript.

4 HEAR Higher Education Achievement Report University led programme
Section 6.1 – Extra-curricular activity The HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Report) is a University-verified, electronic document which records broader achievements in addition to programme and module details and results.  The HEAR will grow with the student and they will be able to access it whenever they wish and a final HEAR will be released when they have completed their studies.   The idea is that this electronic and University-verified document will help students to demonstrate to an employer what they have achieved and why they would be a good choice for them to employ. The HEAR will… Accompany your degree certificate. Recognise extra-curricular achievements Record detailed information about your academic activities Provide evidence of university learning Showcase individual strengths and experiences to employers Within the HEAR is section 6.1 which is in relation to volunteering (i.e. charity engagement), extra-curricular activities (i.e. Clubs & Societies leadership) and placements (outside of your course). Any activities you undertake voluntary that do not fall under your course requirements such as placements, internships or graduate schemes will be required to be verified by the Students' Union. If you DO NOT register for the H.E.A.R. and do not undertake any activities within this area, your 6.1 will be empty but still visible to employers so it is vital you take this on. Any activities you undertake that are Union-led will automatically be uploaded to your HEAR transcript. Any that fall outside of this (community volunteer, charity fundraiser or charity event organiser) will need the individual to register for the opportunity and get this verified. This is done by the student completing an evidence document and submitting it to the Volunteering & Activities Coordinator. Once checked and approved this will be uploaded to your transcript.
