13 2014-2015 Algebra 3 Pre-Calculus Mrs. Foreman jenny.foreman@sville.us
Supplies Needed - Pencils, Red Pen, and Paper (Only pencils may be used on assignments – 10 points will be deducted if not used.) - Three Ring Binder used only for this class. - Dividers - Class Rules 1. Be respectful. 2. Be responsible. (Use your time wisely) 3. Pay attention. 4. No food or drink allowed in class. You may only have water in its original container. I will be available for help before school at 7:45, during Flex, and after school by appointment (unless told otherwise). Extended Day is Monday – Thursday 3:50 – 4:50 pm in library. Algebra 3 Pre-Calculus Mrs. Foreman (254) ext. 6464 Room 107 CELL PHONES: When you enter the classroom you are to place your silenced phone in your calculator slot. You may ask to use it when the lesson is over. Acceptable uses include listening to music with the use of earbuds while your phone is put away. Your phone is not to be out on your desk unless I give you permission. If you get caught using your phone or it goes off during the lesson, a quiz or a test it will automatically be taken up and sent to the office. It is your responsibility to pick it up before you leave class. HALL PASSES: You get one hall pass for each semester. If you keep it you may turn it in at the end of the semester for one of the following:  3 points on the semester exam 5 points added to a test grade 10 points added to a quiz KEEPING NOTEBOOKS: You are required to have a notebook. There will be four sections: bellwork, notes, quizzes, and homework. Bring your notebook with you to class every day. Losing your notebook is not an excuse for not having it. It must be replaced as soon as possible. This usually means laboriously duplicating a classmate’s notebook. There will be notebook quizzes periodically throughout the six weeks. You are not allowed to use another classmate’s notebook to take the quiz.

14 GRADING: Daily Grades: 50% Major Grades: 50% MAKE-UP:
If you miss a class, it is your responsibility to check the make-up file for make-up work. You should borrow a friend’s notes to complete what was missed. You may need to work with a friend or see the teacher during tutorials or extended day if additional help is needed. All make up work must be completed before the test (unless Mrs. Foreman tells you otherwise). This includes quiz makeup. No late makeup will be graded unless special arrangements are made with teacher. If you missed a test, you must make arrangements with the teacher for a makeup test. Makeup tests must be made up before the next test (unless Mrs. Foreman tells you otherwise). If absence is due to extracurricular activity, all work is due at the same time as the rest of the class. If a quiz or test is given, you will be expected to be ready for it. Sometimes you may need to come in before leaving to get assignments and help to be able to successfully complete work to be missed. Activity misses are not counted as absences so students need to be prepared. RETESTS: If you fail a test and wish to retake it, you must agree to the following conditions: -All homework leading up to the test must be turned in before original test. -You must retest before the next unit’s test date. -A retest review must be completed before you can retest. -If your grade is a 60 or higher, you may make test corrections for a maximum grade of a 70. -If your grade is below a 60, you may request a retest within 3 days. The highest possible grade you can make on a retest is a 70.  Always remember, I don’t give you the grade, you earn it. HOMEWORK AND QUIZZES: Plan on taking notes and having an assignment every day. Assignment(s) will be due completed on the day of the quiz pertaining to that lesson. At the end of a unit, if there is no quiz, the assignment(s) will be due with the review. The review will usually be handed out two days before the test that way if you are absent one of those days you would still be responsible for the test. All quizzes will count twice as a daily grade and bellwork will count once. This grading policy is subject to change if I feel it is not successful. There will be periodic quizzes that will cover information in the homework and notes. You will be able to use your notes on quizzes. Since notes and/or assignments are allowed to be used during most quizzes, if you fail a quiz, you will not be able to make it up. GRADING: Daily Grades: 50% Major Grades: 50% BELLWORK: It is your responsibility to work on the bellwork as soon as you come into the classroom. This is the only time you will have to work on it. This means that you don’t come into my room and visit before the bell rings. Visiting is to be left out in the hall. You may chew gum as long as you don’t smack or pop bubbles which causes a distraction.
