Major improvement of the Eurostat website
Profiles: interactive one page overview of the latest data from key indicators per subject area and country or region Table-Graph-Map interface: highly interactive interface for displaying predefined datasets in various customizable graphical formats Table builder: display and download of (complex) open datasets based on a customizable, dynamic, interactive, multi-dimensional table view The planned "Cities' and Regions' Profiles" site should use these components as major building blocks. Needs of National Statistical Institutes – as suppliers and as users
Data dissemination should be timely and respect the copyright and confidentiality aspects of the data Metadata should be included The work "behind the data" should be valorised. Content I. Profiles: short overview of the latest data from key indicators per area (region or city), displaying the exact value and the quintile position. A short description of the area, written in a "statistical language" – limited to facts. Table-Graph-Map interface: covering regions and also cities (not together with the regions). Content II. Comparisons: comparing city-to city; region-to-region. It should be possible to choose sub groups, based on different selection criteria. Rankings: similar to the ranking function available from the site.
