1 Online Specialty Center Application
Kick Off – 11/19/18 Closes – 1/11/19

2 Parent Permission/Waiver Form
Important: Students will not have access to the applicant site until the permission/waiver form is complete. This form is available online through the Parent Portal. Access will be granted 24 hours after permission form is submitted. PowerSchool Parent Portal Website Address: Either select Create Account or if you have an account already, enter the username and password. Once you have logged in, select the student. Select the Specialty Center link on the left.

3 Parent Permission/Waiver Form
Review the form in it’s entirety. Parent/Guardian will acknowledge on behalf of the student and themselves. Parent/Guardian will select a Waiver of Right to Access and Submit. Confirm and Submit. An overview of your permission form and waiver will be displayed. Please note that the student will have access to the applicant portal within 24 hours of the permission/waiver submission. If you need to obtain a manual permission/waiver form, please see your child’s school counselor.

4 Student Application Website Address: Grade 8 Student will use their HCPS credentials to login. Note: PowerSchool Portal rights will not allow access to this system. A Help document is available on each page (top left). Important Links available on this page to include a calendar, brochure, a list of project requirements, audition info and Spanish Immersion Center info.

5 Begin Application Click on the button “Click Here to Begin” to start the application. Review demographic information. If anything is listed incorrectly, your parent/guardian must see the school registrar to update this information in PowerSchool. If information is correct, select the button “Create Application” to begin.

6 Select Centers Reminder – Help document is available throughout application. Click each box next to the centers you wish to submit an application. Once you complete your selections, click once on Process Selections(top right). Note: You may only apply to no more than two Center for Arts disciplines.

7 Enter Activities Reminder – Help document is available throughout application. Tell us how you spend your time outside of regularly scheduled classes. You may enter up to 5 activities. You must enter at least 1 activity in order to submit your application. Enter Activity Name, Hours Spent Each Week, Grades and a Description. Save Activity. Once your are done, Complete Activities.

8 Teacher Recommendation Selections
Reminder – Help document is available throughout application. Please select 2 teachers from your current school to provide a recommendation for your application. One of the teachers you select should be from a core subject area. (Math, English, Science, or History) Select the first teacher from the dropdown list and Save Recommendation. Select the second teacher from the dropdown list and Save Recommendation. Then select the Complete Recommendations button. If you need to make changes, click the Edit Button and Remove Recommendation. Select new teacher, Save Recommendation and Complete Recommendation. **Please be sure to ask your teacher, before requesting the recommendation**

9 Center for Arts Auditions (if applicable)
Reminder – Help document is available throughout application. Note: Only those students applying to Center for Arts will see this tab. Click on the Edit Button to the left of the entry. Review the Information, make a selection and select Apply Changes. Once you are done, select Complete Auditions.

10 Finalize Application You can return to any tab to make corrections if needed as long as you have not finalized your application. If you have changes after you finalize, you must see your school counselor. Click once on the Finalize Application button to submit your application to your school counselor for processing.

11 Project Reminders Complete Projects is a display of all required center projects. Print or take a snapshot of this page as a reminder of any and all projects due. You may return to your finalize application view anytime during the application submission window. All project submissions must be dropped into the appropriate center folder within the Schoology course “Specialty Center Writing Samples and Projects”. There you will see a recap of the project and a dropbox to drop your project.

12 Online Responses Once the Directors of each center make their selections, students will have a window where they can access the online application program again to review and make their selections. On 3/8 at 4:30 PM, student will login to the applicant program. Review the directions below and make their selections online.

13 Timeline and Reminders
Application Window Opens – 11/19 This is the earliest the parent permission/waiver form can be submitted. Application Window Closes – 1/11 Online Student Response Window Opens - 3/8 at 4:30 PM Students will login to the applicant program to see center selections. Online Student Response Window Closes - 3/22
