1
Things Which Unite Division is sinful!
Religious unity and sameness is not optional (John 17: 20, 21; Acts 2: 42, 44-46; I Cor. 1: 10; Phili. 4: 2). Hence, division is sinful, being against God’s teaching (see (I Cor. 3: 1-3). In this study, we shall explore matters that unite the people of God and that reveal the source for religious unity.
2
Things Which Unite Unity is possible
Make a careful study and presentation of Ephesians 4: Show again that unity is commanded (individual responsibility) and that Paul presents the means of unity (the “ones”). Mutual belief and practice of these “ones” automatically results in sameness (see slide three).
3
Things Which Unite Unity is possible if God’s teaching is observed: Acts 2: 42, 44-46, Phili. 4: 2. Unity becomes a reality when Ephesians 4: 3-6 is respected and obeyed.
4
Things Which Unite Serve same Savior
Beginning with slide four, some common causes for unity are presented. Regarding the “same Savior,” consider Acts 20: 19 and Philippians 3: Jesus has all authority (Matt. 28: 18). Can you imagine soldiers not all listening to their commander? We are all to pay attention to Jesus; hence, unity is a natural result (2 Cor. 5: 14, 15).
5
Book we can mutually understand
Things Which Unite Book we can mutually understand We have “one faith” (Eph. 4: 5). We are to be of “the same mind” (I Cor. 1: 10). Apply these truths to the divided church at Corinth (exs. I Cor. 5, 6, 7). We can understand the same (Eph. 3: 4, emphasize).
6
Things Which Unite A race we can all run
There is a race set before all Christians for them all to run (I Cor , Heb. 12: 1). We must all lawfully run this race (2 Tim. 2: 5). Hence, unity is the product.
7
Things Which Unite A foe we can fight
Christ’ army in which we are all enlisted is militant (2 Tim. 2: 3-5). Our common and mutual foe is the devil and false doctrine (I Pet. 5: 8, Jude 3, Phili. 1: 7, 17).
8
Things Which Unite A faith we can keep
See 2 Timothy 4: 8 (2-7). Also Revelation 2: 10. Again, the same Savior to be served; book that can mutually be understood; common race; same foe; and a faith that we all can keep will naturally and automatically eventuate in unity and singularity. When unity must be sought after (unity meetings, etc.) and separately pursued, something is wrong. The basic concept of biblical unity is flawed. Unity will be the nature result of the things which we have discussed.
