4 Culture Princess Royal Maternity Neonatal Unit Rooming in Suite Family Integrated Care Kangaroo Care as routine care/management Cue Based Feeding Environment where parents can stay with baby 24/7 Individualising family needs total involvement in care and decisions Kangaroo Care Skin to skin care the norm for all babies, unless contraindicated - written guidance/discussion on ward round for reassurance Cue Based Feeding Advancement in number of suck feeds based on continuous assessment of infant’s behaviour Supportive rather than directive Establishing feeding as a pleasurable relationship-based experience for infant and parents Decrease parental anxiety Consistency, conflicting advice less likely Improve long-term neurodevelopment outcomes for the most fragile of NICU babies
