Students may not grade their own.
Students need to use a different writing utensil to grade – and write “Graded by ____”
Teacher calls the question and students RAISE a hand to answer.
Student then checks all right answers and puts one line through all that are wrong.
The grade should be calculated (10 points each – and I will spot them 20 points). This means all grades should be from 20 to 100.
Write the grade on the warm up and return it to the owner.

30. Christy’s graph
Students discussed using speed data (distance and time) to create a graph – and using the graph to illustrate a story of motion.
All classes were given a worksheet telling a story about Christy’s trip to the zoo and should have used the information to create a graph.

Christy wanted to visit the zoo, which is 20 kilometers from her house. To help her get there, her mother drove her to the bus stop 5 kilometers away from home and toward the zoo. The trip took 5 minutes. She had to wait for the bus for 5 minutes. Christy was reading on the bus and missed her stop. She finally got off the bus 10 minutes later at the next stop 1 kilometer past the zoo. It took Christy 15 minutes to walk back to the zoo.

32. Joey’s graph
Joey waited 60 minutes while his family got ready to go to the beach. They jumped in the car and got to the beach 60 kilometers away in 40 minutes. They were at the beach for 40 minutes when it started to rain. They headed for home, driving the first 10 kilometers in 10 minutes. It was raining so hard that they cut their speed in half in order to get home.
Homework!!! Create the graph for Joey’s story and have it ready by Monday. Be sure to use a straight edge to create lines. Do NOT just free-hand as it is not accurate.

33. Bill Nye the Science Guy
Next you will watch a Bill Nye video about motion.
Please be sure to look over your video questions BEFORE starting the video.
There are questions on the front and back!
Find the video (already set up – or link here)

34. After the video… If there is time, match the story to the graph.
You will be given TWO pages. One (front and back) has graphs. The other page has stories.
You will find the story that best matches the graph, cut-and-glue the correct story with its matching graph.
Please be sure to put your NAME on it.
Don’t forget to clean up the glue, scissors, and paper scraps.

Complete the Distance-Time Graph Story Match (if that was given in class).
