Note blocks can be used to make music. They are powered by Redstone.

To change the pitch of a note block, right click it.

To get the rhythm right, I have this set up
To get the rhythm right, I have this set up. Each note block that is 3 blocks apart with the redstone and repeaters as shown here will make 1 whole note (crotchet). 1 block apart will be a half note (quaver), 5 blocks = dotted crotchet (1 and a half beats), 7 blocks = minim (2 beats) etc.

Sounds: When you place a note block on top of a grass block, you get a harp sound.

A note block on top of wood makes a bass sound.

On top of stone – bass drum and on top of sand – snare drum.

Note blocks can also be used to make sound effects such as a door bell.
