1 Chapter 14, Section 1 Fluids and Pressure

2 All Fluids Exert Pressure
Fluids include liquids and gases. Pressure is the amount of force exerted on a given area.

3 The Formula of Force Pressure = Force / Area Force = Pressure x Area
The SI unit is the pascal (pa)

4 Pressure and Bubbles Fluids exert a push out in all directions.
This makes a round shape.

5 Atmospheric Pressure The atmosphere is the layer of gases that surrounds the Earth. This layer causes a pressure called Atmospheric pressure.

6 Density and Water Pressure
Pressure depends on the depth of the fluid Lower depth = more pressure Water and air combine to exert pressure.

7 Pressure Differences and Fluid Flow
Fluids flow from regions of high pressure to regions of low pressure. Example: breathing, drinking through a straw, tornadoes, etc.

8 LET’S SEE HOW IT WORKS!
