Week of: October 3rd, 2016 Mrs. Height’s WISE Owls Classroom Newsletter Dates to remember: Oct th- Cogat testing Oct. 14th- Fall Festival 6-9pm Oct. 19th- Early Release (11:30) --REMINDERS— It is SME policy that students who do not complete their homework be placed on yellow. Please check in with your third grader during the week to make sure they have their homework before Friday. We have math and 100 minutes of reading log EACH WEEK! The homework is written in the student planner each Friday for the following week. Reading- We are learning that a character’s traits, feelings, actions and thoughts have an impact on the events in a story. Math- We are learning strategies for adding multi-digit numbers. Writing- We are using mentor text to learn how authors write good, attention-grabbing openings. Language- We are learning how adding adjectives to our writing creates a picture in the readers mind. Social Studies- This week we will shift our focus to local government. OUR PTO Representative .I would like to thank Johanna Wright (William’s mom) for volunteering to be our class PTO rep!!! We appreciate all you will do for us Johanna! Her first job will be to ask parents in our class to volunteer their time or items for the fall festival. With your permission I will be sending her your address. If you do not wish for her to have your , please let me know by this Monday evening (October 3rd).
