WELCOME!!!!!! Ms. Ashley’s English Class 7th and 8th Grade!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ACCELERATED READER PHILOSOPHY
Accelerated Reader is an integral part of the curriculum here at Fruitland for a number of reasons. First, England staff members are convinced that this supplementary reading program motivates students to practice their reading on a regular basis at a level, shown by research, to increase reading proficiency. Secondly, teachers are able to individualize for each student’s needs and more accurately monitor their reading progress. Thirdly, students set goals, are reinforced through immediate feedback and incentives, and become more responsible for their own achievement. It is our belief that, through this program, we will help to create life-long readers for the twenty-first century!
