Specials:
The K Coffeehouse is this Thursday, Feb. 2! We will rehearse this week with speaking parts and the microphone. The Coffeehouse will include a Kindergarten Art Show in the Meeting Room which will be open at 6pm. We will be organizing reserved seating for those who reply to Mrs. O’Day by Friday, January 27. This way we’ll make sure you have a good view of your performer! We will also have general seating available if more friends and family decide they can come after the deadline.  The Gallery doors will open at 6:10pm for reserved and general seating. Thank you for helping your children memorize their speaking parts!

Math…
We will begin our new unit in math this week. The new unit 4 summary is in the blue bar on the web site. Unit 4 reviews and builds on children’s understanding of addition and subtraction story problems. Children deepen their knowledge of problem solving as they create story problems for addition and subtraction numeric equations. They continue partner work for partners 2 through 6 and practice visualizing teen numbers as a ten and extra ones.

To Remember
Kindergarten will discuss making predictions as we think about whether the groundhog will see his/her shadow on Thursday. We’ll graph our results and let you know how we did!
We are sending home a list of class names for our tradition of giving Valentine cards. The cards can be brought to school starting February 9.
Grades were posted online Friday, January 27th. Conferences are not scheduled this grading period but we will be happy to meet with you to discuss your child’s progress and answer any questions if there are concerns.
Weather Watching
Now that cold weather has arrived, please send gloves or mittens and a hat with your child each day for outside play.
