Oct. 1942: Monty attacks Rommel’s troops in El Alamein, Egypt  Rommel retreats 2. Nov 1942: Allies launch Operation Torch  U.S. Gens. Eisenhower & Bradley’s troops get involved 3. Result: May 1943: Germans are sandwiched  German Afrika Corps are defeated - Allies head to Italy

4 C. Battle of Stalingrad Aug-Nov 1942: Germany controls 90% of the city
2. Nov 19: Stalin has Soviet troops surround city 3. Germans are cut off from supplies. 4. Result: Feb 1943: Hitler tells men if they surrender they will be shot! They surrender

5 D. Invasion of Italy 1. Sept 3: Allies invade mainland Italy
2. King has Mussolini arrested. Axis powers retreat north 3. Sept ‘43:Mussolini rescued 4. April 1945: Allies finally defeat Germans & Italians in Northern Italy 5. Mussolini disguised as a soldier is spotted, hanged in town square
