The Soda Challenge!

2. What is the Soda Challenge?
The soda challenge is when you insert a few Mentos candies into a 2 liter soda bottle, then it explodes!

3. What, Where, Who, When & Why?
What- A Soda experiment that’s going to blow your mind!
Where- Outside, on the field, on grass, away from pedestrians.
Who- Team leaders: Zoe, Carrie, Poppy and rest of class as experiment-ees.
When- In the morning, when it’s not too hot.
Why- this is our “Are you smarter than a fifth grade teacher?” project! (and it’s fun!) 

4. Needed to be prepared at school:
Materials
Already have:
3, 2 liter soda bottles
Each soda is either Pepsi, Coke, Mountain Dew,
- 7 long rolls of Mentos Mints
Experiment research knowledge
The ability to find which soda will shoot the highest and why.
Needed to be prepared at school:
Sunny, non-rainy weather.
Teacher Supervision
Student’s attention
45 minutes on field, private!
Tape (to hold down soda, so it doesn’t fall)
Rags or paper towels/ napkins ( to clean up any accidental spills)

5. What we’re going to do
We are going to take 5 soda bottles (as mentioned before) and 4 tubes of Mentos and set them on the field in a row, each soda 5ft away from each other. Next we put half a tube of Mentos in each bottle. After explosion, We’ll go inside, talk about why Mentos make soda explode, and why which soda exploded the highest.
