States of Matter
2
There are three states of matter.
Solids Liquids Gases
3
Matter is made up of anything that takes up space and has mass.
Does air take up space? Does air have mass?
4
Solids Have a definite shape Have a definite volume Molecules are packed tightly together Molecules cannot move freely
5
Liquids Have no fixed shape Have a definite volume
Molecules are packed loosely together Molecules can move a little
6
Gases Have no definite shape Have no definite volume
Molecules are far apart Molecules move freely
7
Changes of State Liquid Solid Gas melting evaporating freezing
condensing
