Note that the optics occupy a relatively minor portion of the instrument, the bulk of which is devoted to therapeutic tools that can perform traditional surgical tasks such as cutting and suturing. The inset shows how the proposed configuration of this instrument (bottom) allows for much more effective triangulation than currently used instruments (top).
