2 Conjunction A conjunction is a word that joins words or word groups. Coordinating conjunctions join words or word groups that are used in the same way. and but for nor or so yet Jill or Anna strict but fair over the river and through the woods **Coordinating conjunctions that join independent clauses almost always need a comma. They are joining 2 complete sentences!
