What does a healthy individual look like? *health = the combination of physical, mental(emotional), and social well-being. spiritual, occupational, environmental Every decision we make affects our health in some way or another Also affects those around us It’s important to be balanced

PHYSICAL HEALTH *How well your body functions
3 conditions must be met to be considered healthy Perform daily activities Deal with everyday stresses Avoid injury How do you keep a healthy body? 8-10 hours of sleep; 8 cups of water/day; minutes of physical activity; avoid ATOD; bathe, brush, floss, shower, etc. daily

MENTAL(emotional) HEALTH
*A reflection of how you feel about yourself, meet daily demands of life, and cope with problems that occur People who are mentally healthy: Enjoy challenges; accept responsibility, have a sense of control; can express emotions appropriately; are generally positive; make responsible decisions

SOCIAL HEALTH *ability to interact with others
It’s your network of friends and peers NOT having a lot of friends Characteristics include: Seeking/lending support; communicating clearly; listening to others; showing respect
