1 YOUR SAT

2 We are all at different places and going in different directions.
We need to take advantage of our independent learning skills for this unit, as this is a key criteria in the outcome.

3 How do I work on my SAT? There is no structured way that I can tell you to go about the SAT. It depends on your product, genre, your chosen audience and intention. However, you need to be using the weebly to guide you, looking at past examples of films and PDPs and asking for guidance.

4 Example Pitch

5 Inspiration for my concept

6 CONCEPT I am going to explore the concept of gender expectations. Traditionally society has focused on the expectations of women, I will explore this but also want to highlight the harsh expectations placed on men. I want to communicate the idea that the pressures placed on gender is doing more harm than good for all sexes.

7 Inspiration for my form, style and genre
I am really interested in the 1940s-1950s American instructional films. To a current audience they seem comical but they were taken seriously and I want to play on this. I will use a black and white filter, use the famous orchestral music and cheesy narrator to achieve this. Breaking the forth wall. Where the characters interact with the audience and narrator.

8 PLOT/CONTENT Opening: Man and women in kitchen fulfilling gender roles in a happy manner. Agreeing with the narrator who is describing what they are doing. Development: Gender rolls start to confuse and restrict the characters. They begin to get annoyed with the narrator who tries to hush them and cover up the flaws of gender rolls Resolution: The characters actively go against gender stereotypes and ignore the narrator. They begin to have fun with each other, achieve goals that they couldn’t at the start and are happy.

9 STATEMENT OF INTENTION
I am going to create a satirical narrative in the style of the 1950s instructional film that makes a commentary on the inequality of gender stereotypes in modern Australia.

10 Things I’m excited about:
Things I’m worried about: I’ve done lots of research on gender expectations and have lots ideas for the script. I know the exact location for the film, my friends kitchen. I’ll only need one location so that’s sorted. Finding the right person for the voice over. IT has to sound like the genre, otherwise it won’t fir the genre. Timing of the acting responding to the voice over that will be added later. It needs to fit, otherwise it won’t flow.

11 Your pitch should include: - Inspiration (with key inspiration included) - Concept
Genre/style (what conventions you will use) Plot/what will be seen Statement of intention Excited about/ worried about
