2 Fig 1 Arthroscopic interphalangeal arthrodesis of the right thumb. Preoperative anteroposterior (A) and lateral (B) radiographs show degeneration of the interphalangeal joint (arrowheads) of the thumb. 3 Fig 2 Arthroscopic interphalangeal arthrodesis of the right thumb. Interphalangeal arthroscopy of the thumb is performed via the dorsal-radial (DRP) and dorsal-ulnar (DUP) portals. Arthroscopy Techniques 2016 5, e1291-e1296DOI: ( /j.eats ) Copyright © 2016 Arthroscopy Association of North America Terms and Conditions

4 Fig 3 Arthroscopic interphalangeal arthrodesis of the right thumb. The dorsal-radial portal is the viewing portal. The remaining articular cartilage of the interphalangeal joint is debrided with an arthroscopic shaver via the dorsal-ulnar portal. (DP, articular surface of the distal phalanx; PP, distal articular surface of the proximal phalanx.) 5 Fig 4 Arthroscopic interphalangeal arthrodesis of the right thumb. The dorsal-radial portal is the viewing portal. Loose body is removed by a hemostat via the dorsal-ulnar portal. (DP, articular surface of the distal phalanx; LB, loose body; PP, distal articular surface of the proximal phalanx.) 6 Fig 5 Arthroscopic interphalangeal arthrodesis of the right thumb. The dorsal-radial portal is the viewing portal. Microfracture of the distal articular surface of the proximal phalanx (PP) is performed by an arthroscopic awl via the dorsal-ulnar portal. Arthroscopy Techniques 2016 5, e1291-e1296DOI: ( /j.eats ) Copyright © 2016 Arthroscopy Association of North America Terms and Conditions

7 Fig 6 Arthroscopic interphalangeal arthrodesis of the right thumb. The dorsal-radial portal is the viewing portal. Drilling of the articular surface of the distal phalanx (DP) is performed with a K-wire via the dorsal-ulnar portal. (PP, distal articular surface of the proximal phalanx.) Arthroscopy Techniques 2016 5, e1291-e1296DOI: ( /j.eats ) Copyright © 2016 Arthroscopy Association of North America Terms and Conditions

8 Fig 7 Arthroscopic interphalangeal arthrodesis of the right thumb. (A) The distal phalanx of the thumb is translated dorsally (arrow) and the K-wire is inserted into the center of the base of the distal phalanx. The wire is propagated distally and exit at the volar surface of the distal phalanx. (B) The joint is reduced and positioned 10°-15° flexion and neutral in the coronal plane. The wire is propagated proximally to the proximal phalanx and engaged at its dorsal cortex. (C) The headless screw is inserted along the wire. (D) Intraoperative fluoroscopy confirms the proper placement of the screw.
