CROSSROAD OCTOBER 2014 Sometimes we face unusual situations that makes us questions ourselves about our own behavior and nature. Take for example a dramatic report in the National Journal, in which a young, drunk male runs over some citizens in a bus stop, leaving a fatal victim. The young man runs away without offering help. The first thought and reflection is the indignation, anger, desire for a severe punishment. This judgment is because we all know that you should not driver under the influence of alcohol and those who take such a risk have to pay the consequences for it. Right? Now undress conventional modesty and answer me ... this young man who caused the accident is your only son (dearly beloved). Does the analysis remain the same? Will we hold the young man? How to resolve this dilemma? Would you give your child justice knowing that it would spend a few years in jail or would you overlook it and seek internal justification for its failure to act? Sometimes during the process of education of our children we find ourselves in troubled situations, different, complicated also. Imagine that our son, dearly beloved, is part of the generation "or not" (Brazilian society share of youth not employed nor studying). You've tried everything, but the individual does not want anything to do with "the time of Brazil" (i.e. doesn't care about what's going on). But your big baby is already older than 20 years of age, dating and need resources for their particular livelihood. So what now? Leaving him without money, so he can feel pressured into finding a job, thus taking risks of getting involved with "low lives" that will get him into "easy money" (theft, drugs, etc. ) or remain providing him with your old monthly allowance? Another very difficult dilemma, isn't it? In the professional world, we find ourselves with some crossroads also, ladies and gentlemen. We have on our team predilections, conspiracies, preferences, dislikes, etc. How to handle this? How not to contaminate the feelings that tend to dominate us and stop being rational. In the examples above,we let the decency aside for dealing with a beloved relative, but how about at the worksite, do we stand by or tend to be patronizing? Paternalism lives day to day business and it can be beneficial or not the corporation. Everything depends on the dose. Be averse to everything that happens and always take drastic, all-or-nothing decisions would not be a 100% satisfactory solution. We have to use the old balance of common sense and become "Swiss" to infer the minimum of possible errors and injustices. Good luck with your judgments. MOTIVATION Visit my website :
