1 T2.3d Solving Bearing and Double Triangle Review

2 Active Learning Questions?
Tigger

3 TIGGER AND THE TREE: Tigger wants to know how tall a tree is (because there’s a bird at the top!). He cannot measure the ground around it because it is surrounded by a rose garden (thorns!). He sights an angle of elevation from the ground at the edge of the roses to the top of the tree and gets 36°. At a point 20 feet back, he sights another angle of elevation from the ground that is 22°. How tall is the tree? (Answer to one decimal place.)

4 36° 22° 20’ h x The tree is 18.2 ft tall. This is one of your practice problems for the Double Triangles.

5 Instructions: (If assigned in class.)
Work on the assignment (next page) in your group. You will get a group grade for working together. Everyone works on the same problem together. In other words, do not go on until everyone in the group has done and understands the problem. Are they supposed to copy your work? Nooooooo! Help each other and explain how to do it. That’s what the grade is for. If you go on and leave the others, your personal grade for the day will be lowered.
