Government-Farmers had to pay heavy state and local taxes. Industry protected by tariff Corporations- Trusts built high priced monopolies for all products farmers needed to purchase Railroads-High freight prices charged to farmers to ship their crops Disorganization-Big business took advantage of isolated culture of the farmer The decrease of prices, known as deflation on their crops led to farmers often becoming overcome with debt and eventually bankrupt.
