Introduction The goal of our project was to make an inefficient and complicated device that will ultimately raise a banner. The parts we used were found around our house. We used left over wood from a fence that was built, and various objects around the house that would roll down different inclines. We purchased a toy car for $2.00, but we did not end up using it for our final project.

Overview A block of wood is attached by a string to a base. When the piece of wood is released it hits a ball that experiences an inelastic collision with another set of balls. After being sent down a series of ramps the balls fall through a funnel and fall onto one end of the seesaw. The balls, which weigh more than the banner, fall while the banner rises.

Conclusions We spent approximately 7 hours each outside of class either building or working on the written section of the project. Our main problems were: Finding objects of correct masses to react properly in elastic/inelastic collisions Making the inclines of exact heights so our objects would have enough velocity to make it to their final position Constructing the project in a way that worked out as planned every time
