Corel Draw Setting Up System Properties For the Universal Laser Engraver Mr. Gravitt’s Technology Engineering

Open Corel Draw 1. 1a. If you would like to open a template and the software is closed you can open up a template directly by RIGHT CLICKING ON IT. Open software directly using Icon on your desktop. IMPORTANT NOTE: Corel Draw and PTC Prodesktop will not run simultaneously! Corel Draw will crash if you open PTC, so be careful.

1b. After right clicking Choose open with Corel Designer X6

2. You may have some toolbars open or none at all!
Well, we are going to need some of the toolbars for use with the laser engraver. So, we are going to click on view tab.

3. At the bottom of the view tab mouse over toolbars
This drop down window should appear.

4. Select toolbars Menu Status Standard Property Toolbox Text Zoom
Transform NOTE: If you Uncheck the Lock Toolbars you can move the toolbars anywhere on the screen and in whatever order you would like them to be in.

5. You can place them wherever you like them to go.
Right, Left, Top, or on the Bottom I’ve put all of them up top. NOTE: If you Uncheck the Lock Toolbars you can move the toolbars anywhere on the screen and in whatever order you would like them to be in.

6. Our Machine can take 12 inch tall by 24 inch wide material.
Put that in this spot.

7. Draw something (I did a box) Then can change Pen size to hairline

8. I choose Red Color RED & HAIRLINE – his tells the machine to 100% power, go very slow, and in straight line. (TO CUT THOUGH)

9a. Now click on Window Tab Click on Object Manager

9b. This side window should appear

10. Mouse over color palettes Select None

11. Click on your drive, if its in a folder you will need to also click on that. Basically wherever you have saved the color palette. Now click on Legacy Custom Palette

12a. You should see or need to find ULS.cpl file. Then choose it.

12b. These are the only colors the laser understands how to use.
So, You can’t choose a wrong color now!

Black, Red, & Blue - most used colors!
Black – Tells the laser to burn/engrave and raster (raster – is to move back and forth and fill it in completely) Red & Hairline – Tells the laser to CUT: 100% power, go slow, and in a straight line Blue – Burn and raster, but to go at a lower power (NOT CUT AS DEEP) Blue & Hairline – Burn but go in a straight line (NOT CUT)

12d. Green, Yellow, Pink, Light Blue, & Orange – Can be set up with custom settings of: Power, Number of pixels, Speed of laser, Raster, Vector, & etc. The Greyscale – is mainly applied to photographs. Only does black & white photos, greyscale is degree of burning, size of burned pixels, and spacing of the pixels.

13. Click On Tools. Color Management Default Settings

13a. Make sure set to off Click OK
