2 Transferable Skills Everyone has “learned” abilities and “natural” abilities. Learned abilities refer to our skills and natural abilities refer to our talents. Learned abilities are skills you develop throughout your life and can apply to a variety of situations. So what are transferable skills? Transferable skills: the skills and abilities you have acquired during any activity in your life – your classes, projects, part-time work, volunteer work, babysitting, hobbies, sports, virtually anything – that are applicable to what you want to do in your next job. How do transferable skills differ from job-related skills? Job-related skills: the skills that you use while in a particular job. For ex., a dental hygienist would know how to use the dental technology for cleaning teeth and how to take x-rays. The dental hygienist’s ability to keep patients’ records could be a transferable skill.

3 Transferable Skills con’t.
