Appeasement a diplomatic policy aimed at avoiding war by making concessions to another power France, Great Britain, and the U.S. appeased countries like Germany, Italy, and Japan in hopes of avoiding war. Example: Britain and France permitted Germany to violate the Treay of Versailles by rearming and by putting troops into the Rheinland. Eventually, the Allied Powers, had to take a stand against the aggression of the Axis Powers.

Appeasement of Hitler Video
Hitler wanted to take back land that was once part of Germany before World War I. The Munich Agreement in 1938 granted Hitler parts of Czechoslovakia as long as Hitler promised no more aggression towards any other land. This action is also appeasement.

In the “Reaction” column, write a brief summary of how Britain, France, or the United States reacted to each action. Color-coding: Outline in color #1 “Action” boxes that you would categorize as aggressive Outline in color #2 “Reaction” boxes that you categorize as weak or demonstrating weakness. Outline in color #3 “Reaction” boxes that you would categorize as strong.
