V.I. Lenin believed in Karl Marx ideas which were that the working class should unite and throw off the control of the ruling class all over the world!
This led to the Bolsheviks Revolution and Russia becoming a communist state for the next 70 years
Lenin makes a deal w/Germany called the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk which gave some Russian territory to Germany, but MORE IMPORTATLY allowed Germans to double efforts to western front!!!

22. Atrocity of WWI - Turkish Genocide Against Armenians
Who? – Ottoman Turks (Young Turks) were attempting to wipe out all or at least remove all Armenians from Asia Minor!
What? – Turkish government deported, abducted, expropriated, massacred, tortured, starved, and exiled Armenians to the Syrian Desert deliberately.
When? – During WWI from 1915 to 1918 and again from 1920 to 1923.
Where? – Throughout the Ottoman Empire and Turkey.
Why? – The “Young Turk” government saw unification of all Turkic speaking peoples as the only way to save their dying empire and the Armenians stood in the way of this goal of Turkic unity.
What was the response of the world? – U.N. did not have a policy about Genocide until France, Argentina, Greece, Russia all recognize the Genocide, but Turkey does not. Many deny it even happening!
