The Nile River Valley Egypt’s Location Northeast Africa
Narrow Strip of land 550 miles long 30 miles wide Located long the Nile River “Gift of the Nile” – Egypt existed because of the Nile River They called their land “Kemet” Means black land for the dark rich soil located there

Flow North toward the Mediterranean Sea Delta – river branches out into the sea Floods – once a year, at the same time every year (Mid- July) – brought fertile soil Cataracts – waterfalls on the Nile Irrigation Basins – holes dug in the ground used to store water Shadoof – a machine used to lift water from the river to basins and canals
