2 Block schedule this year.
What are we doing? “Bridging year” – we make sure that students build up enough vocabulary and feel comfortable with the basics of the grammar in preparation for the first half of Spanish I in 7th grade Block schedule this year.

3 Textbook / Online Support
Using the 7th grade book – we will take it easy – textbook website Grammar and vocabulary is posted on my webpage and given to your child as a handout. No workbook

4 School Website RESOURCES
Vocabulary and grammar for each chapter WILL be posted on my page (not password protected) Additional resources include typing in Spanish, grammar basics, and link to an online dictionary DO NOT USE ONLINE TRANSLATORS unless you are able to teach the grammar to your child!

5 20% quizzes and 25%homework →1 day late receives only 75% credit

6 Grading I do not offer extra credit opportunities as I expect my students to always put forth their best effort. Only exception – for all tests – students can submit the chapter’s self-check quiz and receive an additional 5 points added to their test grade.

7 Grading (cont) Homework is assigned once a week – announced in class; students write it down in planner; posted in Middle School Homework Central Study guides are always provided for tests (the study guide is the test!) I go easy on the materials and homework the first quarter Encourage your child not to wait until the night before the test to review!

8 Conversations are graded as classwork.
Grading (con’t) Each student is assigned a conversation partner to allow your child to practice the language structure with someone who is at about the same level. Conversations are graded as classwork. Encourage your child to review vocabulary and/or grammar on non- homework days
