Father Joesph had been a Cabinet Minister and Liberal Imperialist. Half brother Austen held many cabinet positions. EARLY CAREER managing his father's plantation in the Bahamas Metalworking industry in Birmingham

Appointed Lord Mayor of Birmingham in 1915. Supervised national conscription in Lloyd George's government WWI elected to parliament as a Conservative MP. Chancellor of the Exchequer ( ) Minister of Health (1923, , 1931) Succeeded Stanley Baldwin as PM 1937

Neville Chamberlain POLITICAL VIEWS
followed a policy of appeasement Germany treated harshly by Allies after WWI German government had genuine grievances which needed to be addressed. By agreeing to some of the demands made by Hitler & Mussolini he could avoid a European war. May 1940 ousted from power. Served under Prime Minister Churchill as Lord President of the Council and died a few weeks after he left the post in October 1940.
