Step 1: Isolate the Radical
Step 2: Square both sides
Step 3: Solve for 𝑥

5. Rational Functions Given: 𝑦= 𝑎 𝑥−ℎ +𝑘 VA: 𝑥=ℎ (opposite)
HA: 𝑦=𝑘 (as you see it)
Domain: 𝑥≠ℎ
Range: 𝑦≠𝑘

6. Solve Rational Equations
Example: 4 𝑥 2 −4 + 1 𝑥+2 = 9 𝑥−2
Step 1: Find the LCD (one of each color)
Step 2: Multiply the LCD to each term
Step 3: Cancel the denominators
Step 4: Simplify the leftovers
Step 5: Solve for 𝑥
Step 6: Check answers to make sure there are no extraneous solutions
