The maps show age-standardized prevalence and mortality figures for ischaemic stroke per 100,000 person–years in various regions in The highest prevalence of ischaemic stroke was observed in developed countries (particularly the USA), and the lowest prevalence was reported in developing countries. The highest mortality from ischaemic stroke was observed in Russia and Kazakhstan, and the lowest was observed in Western Europe, North and Central America, Turkmenistan, and Papua New Guinea.
