New World If you were given the opportunity to move today to a “new world,” would you go? Why or why not? Your family and friends would not travel with you. You would not know the language, and it would be a different climate and culture.

Help Wanted Wanted: Leader capable of governing people in life-threatening crisis. Ability to mediate disputes and maintain order in the face of chaos; good interpersonal and communication skills essential. Community outreach efforts require overcoming language and cultural barriers. Basic bookkeeping, homebuilding, farming, trading, and political skills a must. Salary cannot be guaranteed; no job security. Would you apply for this job? Why or why not?

Puritan Life The Puritans had few possessions, dressed uniformly, and frowned on creative expression. What are potential benefits from a society such as this? What are negative consequences? Examine both.
