Smelling like a blossom everything is awesome! That’s a simile because it is comparing something and has the word “like” in it. A simile is when you are comparing something to something else. A simile has to have the words “like” or “as” to make it a simile. A simile can be comparing more than two things but it needs to have the words “like” or “as” in the statement.

4. Metaphor
I feel more awesome than an awesome possum! That’s a metaphor because the statement is comparing two things but doesn’t have “like” or “as”. A metaphor is a statement that does not use “like” or “as” in it. A metaphor is similar to a simile because they both compare two or more things. A metaphor usually uses the word “is” in it but it doesn’t have to use the word.

5. Cliche`
Everything is awesome! That is a cliche` because the statement has been used for a while. A cliche` is an overused statement that became boring or corny over time. The statements sometimes are still used but mainly they get boring or corny. The statements also usually show wisdom or something knowledgeable.

6. Idiom
Everything's better when we stick together! That is an idiom because it doesn’t really mean to stick together. An idiom is an expression that is common to a particular culture. It also does not mean what it literally says. An idiom can make what you are trying to say sound more special or interesting.
