Office Ergonomics: Keyboards
Proper placement of the keyboard is crucial to comfort when working on a computer. The keyboard should be placed where you can work with the arms relaxed and hanging loosely by your side, and elbows level with the spacebar of the keyboard. Here are some common keyboard errors: Feet Up: Remove the “feet” on the back side of the keyboard. It’s important to work with the wrists in as straight a position as possible. Incorrect Angled Up: Keyboards should be angled down slightly in back, if working on an articulating keyboard tray, or flat if working on the desktop. Incorrect Pushed Away: Working with the keyboard pushed away brings the elbows forward and contracts neck muscles. Keep the keyboard close and keep your elbows hanging loosely at your side. Incorrect Confidential-Client Use Only
