Book Week 2018 Begins Monday 10th September
3
We want the whole school to read for at least 2 hours.
Get your Reading Challenge form from your Tutor. (There will be extra copies in the library.)
4
All completed Reading Challenge forms will be entered into a prize draw.
During BOOK WEEK 2018, bring your Reading Challenge form along to the School Library at interval and you will be entitled to a free piece of fruit and a snack.
5
Pick up a book bargain at interval.
Second-hand and ex-library stock books will be on sale for 20p each outside the School Library at interval during BOOK WEEK 2018. The money raised will be donated to Read For Good (formerly known as Readathon).
6
Take part in the SPONSORED Read and raise money for READ FOR GOOD which supports a number of children's charities. Pick up a sponsor form from the School Library. Remember even small donations can make a huge difference so even if you are not taking part in the Sponsored Read yourself, why not sponsor someone who is.
7
All S1 pupils are invited to take part in the
BOOK WEEK Book Hunt. Staff and Library Assistants will be wearing book badges. All you have to do is find three book titles with three different holiday items to put in your ‘bookcase’ suitcase. Enter as many times as you like as long as you use three different book titles each time. There are great prizes to be won. S2-6 pupils who wish to take part can pick up a sheet from the School Library.
8
‘There is more treasure in books than in all the pirates’ treasure on Treasure Island.’
Walt Disney Recommend a book that you would take with you to a desert island and you could win a prize. Write your recommendation on a piece of pirate gold from the treasure chest in the School Library.
9
Books can take you everywhere.
This year’s theme is Land, Sea and Sky: Books can take you everywhere. Dress Blurbie, our School Library mascot, as a character from a book. Tutor groups will be given the chance to vote for their favourites and prizes will be awarded to the TOP TEN designs. Perhaps you could encourage your Tutor to enter the competition too.
10
Take part in the Tutor Group competitions and you could win a prize for your Tutor group.

Books give us somewhere to go when we have to stay where we are.
Whatever you do, don’t let BOOK WEEK 2018 pass you by. Make sure you hand in your Reading Challenge sheet by 3.30pm on Monday 17th September. Everyone who submits a completed form will get a certificate and the chance to win a prize. Books give us somewhere to go when we have to stay where we are.
