Read the biography and answer the questions Discuss questions with your group, make sure everyone has the correct answers. Write the questions AND answers down on the left side of your notebook (page 103). Where did she grow up? What was her early life like? Why did she become involved in the women’s suffrage movement? What did she do to support women’s suffrage? What are two important facts you think the class should know about this activist?

Sensory Figure: Divide your group into 2. Each smaller group will create a sensory figure to describe your activist. Sensory figures are simple drawings of historical figures with descriptions of what they might have thought, seen, heard, touched, said, or felt. Each of the descriptions contains words and/or symbols and is placed near the part of the body that relates to the sense. Make sure you have:   Seven sentences or phrases that represent what each figure might see, hear, smell, say, touch, think, and feel (emotions). Make sure the sentences or symbols represent important experiences, thoughts, and feelings of the character.
