Class IX Summary Report Tutorial

After LOGIN, this is the home screen
The “Query For Data” tab contains most reports pulled by OSMIS users. Within this tab there are several subsets of data pulls to choose from

“Weapon System Data” includes the most popular OSMIS queries
The “SSF O&S Class IX Summary” (Single Stock Fund Operations and Sustainment) report includes cost details of consumable and reparable parts for different systems by different units or commands.

There are 6 tabs to choose from to help build the report
Click on “?” at anytime on the different tabs for extra assistance in choosing fields for the report Within the tabs, choose a time frame, weapon system, unit(s), year of pricing, etc.

Start and End FY identifies the time frame for the report
Start and End FY identifies the time frame for the report. One year or multiple years of data can be processed. By choosing “summing quarters” the report adds the cost for the entire year and provides an average of the equipment on hand for the year. For more detailed information, do not choose “summing quarters” to see the cost and the amount on hand for each quarter Start and End QTR reflects a year’s worth of data for the Fiscal Years chosen above. Select “with CONOPS” to include deployed (contingency) equipment. If a choice is not made on this screen, the report will not run.

Click on “step 2” to go to the next tab and choose a weapon system

A report can be built for one system, several models of a system, a whole commodity group (like aviation) or all systems. There are several ways to choose a system like entering the National Stock Number (NSN), Line Item Number (LIN), searching by the system name, etc.

This is an example of searching by system name. “Abrams” for the different models of the Abrams tank. Then click “select” to choose the Abrams for the report.

To view several types of equipment, choose “multiple systems by MDS,” then a commodity group.

An entire commodity of systems can also be chosen by clicking “Commodity Group” then selecting a commodity.

Next, click on “Step 3” to choose which organizations to include in the report
Or choose “All Systems” for a Class IX Summary of all applicable equipment, although the report may take a while to run.

There are several different levels of organizations to choose
There are several different levels of organizations to choose. Higher level like MACOM and National Guard by State or lower level at UIC (Battalion Level).

Installation level is available as well.

After selecting Organizational Level, move to “Step 4” for pricing
UIC level (down to Battalion) by entering the UIC

The page automatically defaults to prior year and second quarter
The page automatically defaults to prior year and second quarter. Simply change to a different year and / or quarter to best fit the time frame chosen on Step 1. AMDF Pricing is the best choice for these reports.

Then select “Step 6” to run the report.
“Step 5” is optional and used only when the Source of Supply is required or if the report should be filtered by Work Breakdown Structure.

Click to generate report.

When report is done generating, “Click Here to Save Your Excel Export” pops up. After you click a window will appear.

Always choose “Save.” If you choose “Open” the file will timeout.

Now choose “Open” to view the report, saving it later if desired.

Report Details: Column K is Column I divided by Column J or the average cost of parts per system. Column M is the average cost per mile (or hour for aviation) spent on parts for that Fiscal Year. Columns A and B show the equipment chosen- different models of the Abrams tank. Columns D and E give the Organization details chosen for the report. Column G is the wholesale costs for consumable parts. Column I is the total of G and H, total wholesale costs. Column L is the usage reported by the organization. If “0” is listed, it either was not used or the organization did not report the usage. Column C displays the metric type for system usage. Column F shows Fiscal Year(s) chosen. Columns H is the wholesale costs for reparable parts. Column J is the number of systems on hand for the Fiscal Year for the MACOM listed.
