Lesson 17 – Phil 3:1 – 4:1 Warnings Re: Judaizing Teachers & Their Error Emptiness Of Fleshly Credentials 3:1-8 Again, Paul encourages them to rejoice v. 1a He must repeat some admonitions, but that is safe & good v. 1b 2 Pet 1: :1-2 “Beware of the dogs…evil workers…false circumcision” v. 2 – “Dogs” = a term of derision; not flattering – “evil workers” = relentless Acts 17:13 – “circumcision” = mutilation (doesn’t use the proper term for circumcision) LAW

Lesson 17 – Phil 3:1 – 4:1 Warnings Re: Judaizing Teachers & Their Error Contrasting The Two Approaches 3:17 – 4:1 While these “enemies” think earthly, saints realize their citizenship is in heaven 3:20a (commonwealth; a “colony”) Saints look to heaven for Christ’s return 3:20b Upon His return, Christ will use His power to transform us from our humble state into glory 3: Cor 15: Jn 3:1-2 Therefore, saints are to use this hope to “stand firm in the Lord” 4:1
