2. Current USDA Policy USDA accepts:
Manufacturer “Letter of Guarantee” for new formulations.
USDA authorizations with manufacturer statement (formulation did not change). –NSF White Book
Third-party registrations. –NSF White Book

3. Issues There have been many changes since 1998.
USDA no longer recommends use of the old USDA list (additional manufacturer certification required).
Confidence of old authorizations continues to decline.
In the future…
Only “letter of guarantee” and third-party registrations will be accepted. If so, when?

4. Food-grade lubricants (H1)
ISO standard development underway.
More than 50% of all listed H1 lubricants (2,600) are NSF H1 registered.

5. NSF Plans Implement “sunset” for USDA H1 authorizations starting 2003.
Gradually do the same for other categories when the timing is acceptable.
