*I have been married a little over 6 years. We have two children. Graham is 3 years old and Charlotte was born in July.

5. You may view the frameworks for any of the subject areas in 2nd grade by visiting the link below in order to see what your kiddo is learning about each quarter.
For reading, writing, and math we will follow a workshop model (15 minute mini lesson, 40 minutes of independent practice time, and a 5 minute closing). During independent practice, students will be meeting with the teacher to work on their specific needs.

6. Graded work will come home weekly in your child’s Friday folder.
Daily classwork will be returned in student binders in the completed work pocket. You might notice at the top of the page abbreviations such as GL (Guided Lesson), I (independent activity), CT (checked together), P (Partner Activity), G (Group Activity) or TA (Teacher Assisted). These abbreviations are there to communicate what type of activity the classwork was.

8. Daily behavior calendars will be sent home in order for you to see how your child’s behavior was each day.
Students will have the opportunity to earn tickets, and house points, throughout the day for exemplifying those Freytastic AIM HIGH traits.
Students will turn their tickets in for a chance to visit the
class treasure box at the end of each week.
House points will be marked, by the student, on his/her behavior calendar each day.

9. Students should plan on reading a book, of their choice, for 15 to 20 minutes nightly. Students will also need to practice their addition and subtraction facts every night.
In addition, students will receive a weekly homework choice board to reinforce concepts and skills learned in class. These choice boards will come home on Monday and are due back on Friday. Students will complete their choice of homework in their homework journal.
Also, students will have a weekly spelling test. New words will be given out on Monday.
We will have occasional projects throughout the year. These projects will be announced ahead of time.
