First things to consider…
What type of setting am I looking for? What subjects do I want to do? What am I good at? What employment sector might suit me? College might not be your choice? Apprenticeship Traineeship A job?!

Useful websites: Some websites have an ‘expression
Some websites have an ‘expression of interest form, that you fill in on-line… Check to see if they have replied!

Then you need to… Look on the website at courses that interest you
Open Evenings – go and have a look round! Attend school-based information sessions – assemblies, ISD speakers and drop-in sessions Start to get information about ALL settings that interest you Speak to other people – friends, family, other students

Making an application…
Fill in the form with ALL the required information You use your PREDICTED GRADES for an application Attendance % from your FT or Mentor Exam cycle: write ‘May/June 2017’ SELL YOURSELF – what is going to set your application apart? Return via / post / drop in in person KEEP CHECKING YOUR S! You may be invited for an interview – this is completely normal!

What next…? Providers will contact you – by phone or by email
You will have a careers interview soon We will keep a log of your applications in a spread-sheet. Keep us informed of interviews and offers of places! Wirral Met and The Sixth Form College will be running lunch-time drop in sessions on a 2 weekly rotation. Go and speak to them HAVE A BACK-UP PLAN!

Dates and deadlines Providers might have different deadlines, but… Aim to have AT LEAST 2 applications done by January Keep in touch – interviews start after Christmas! Registration AFTER results day BSFC and Wirral Met will always look at alternative course, if necessary

Revision tips! 1. Do something with the information!
Reading it will only engage your memory to a small degree Draw, write, create, question, redo, etc 2. Start somewhere It seems like a massive mountain, when you’re at the bottom Baby steps are better than no steps! 3. Make a timetable 4. Focus on what you don’t know, not what you already do
