Calculating mean and range
Mean: add up all of the repeated results and divide by the total number of results. If there is an outlier they will tell you. Does your answer look sensible? It can’t be bigger than the biggest result in the dataset! Range = spread of results. The lowest to highest value. Write down these two numbers (don’t take them away from each other).

Percentages Percent means out of 100
You might be asked to find a missing % - remember that they should all add up to 100. Subtract the values you have from 100 to find the missing one. You might be asked to calculate a % how many you have x 100% the total

Describing and using graphs
Describe means ‘say what you see’ Does the graph go up, go down or stay the same? Can you use any numbers from the graph? You might be asked to read values off a graph You might be asked to plot points You might be asked to draw a line of best fit Sometimes this is the first part of a 6 mark Q

Ratio A ratio compares values, telling us how much of one thing there is compared to another thing. You may be given a ratio and told the value of one part. You will need to work out the other value. If a ratio is 1:1 it means that both values are equal. If a ration is 2:1 it means that the first value is twice as big as the second one.
35
Using formulae You will either be given a formula to use or you will need to choose the right one from the information sheet.
44
Using data You may be asked to use information from tables and graphs.
