Note the location of the above directory, a file called tnsnames.ora needs to be added in order to connect to the database
It can be added manually, this file is made available to you, and needs to be copied to this location

You will then need to verify you can connect to the database

On the next screen you are required to connect to the database server
You have an account on the database server, this will allow you to connect to that account
Your logon ID is your HCnet ID that has been supplied to you (abcd0000) in this format
The initial password supplied to you is ORACLE (it is not case sensitive)
The Host String needs to match an entry in the tnsnames.ora file, in your case this is GROK (it is not case sensitive)
An alternate database is available called MUNRO
You will see both entries in the tnsnames.ora file

In the event you did receive an error message please contact me, do not call the Humber help desk, they cannot help you with any issues around Oracle
If you receive an error message trying to connect I need to know the error code and its message in order to resolve your problem
If you me and say “I have an error”, but neglect to tell me what the error is there is nothing I can do for you, believe me this has happened many times every semester
